Today we needed to go shopping in Mytilene. We decided that we would have a stop off on the way home for a swim. Seeing a sign to a beach we had never visited we decided to “give it a go.”

Why have we never been here before?

This is a beautiful beach.

The best-kept secret on Lesvos?

At one end of the bay, there is a pretty harbour with three tavernas close by. The beach is a mix of white shingle and very coarse sand. The sea was glass clear and azure blue, this being emphasised by the white shingle. Behind the 500m long beach, there are a few houses and some rooms “For Rent”. For nearly two hours my wife and I were the only people there. Eventually, we were joined by one other bather about 200 m further up the beach.
