Help with Special diets

Visiting a foreign country is fun but it can also be challenging, especially if you have special dietary needs or wishes. We are starting to put together information that will help you get the food that you want when visiting Lesvos.

I should point out that we eat pretty much everything that gets put on the table. What follows is taken from information that has been passed on to us.

Please email us if you can add to or amend the information provided below.

Language

The biggest barrier is often language and concerns that you might not be understood. We have included links to specialist sites to ensure you get the correct information. For vegetarians and vegans, English is spoken in most of the Tavernas on Lesvos but if you are worried, you can cut, paste and print the Greek text below then take it with you to show when visiting a taverna.

Food Allergies in General:

This is a specialist subject, so we are leaving it to the specialists. Click on the link below for a printable card to carry when eating out or shopping.

Coeliac:

This is also a specialist area, so we have added a link below that has a card you can download and print out.

Coeliac/gluten free restaurant card.

If the above link does not work, send me an email admin@molyvos.eu and we will try to help.

Vegetarian:

Είμαι χορτοφάγος. Δεν τρώω καθόλου κρέας, πουλερικά, ψάρι ή θαλασσινά.

I’m a vegetarian. I do not eat any meat, poultry, fish or seafood.

Vegan:

I’m vegan. I do not eat any meat, poultry, fish or seafood, and no animal products, including all dairy products, eggs and honey.

I hope that you find the information above useful. It is a small start but with your help, we can build a database of Tavernas that have understood your needs and been helpful.

It’s now up to you, so please email us with your stories.

Please share with your friends.

About Robin

We started visiting Lesvos such a long time ago we can't remember when. We simply fell in love with the island in general and Molyvos in particular. In 2005 we bought some land and tried to manage the building of our house from the UK. Holidays became site visits and our house was [mostly] completed in 2007. In 2009 we sold up in the UK and moved to Molyvos. This is now our home and we count ourselves amongst the luckiest of the lucky. I am a member of the Molyvos Tourist Association, providing photographs for their brochures and general publicity. Most of my time is spent on activities to encourage tourism or taking photographs of one of the most beautiful places on earth. I also produce calendars and sell them on-line through Lesvos Calendars. Please visit and have a look. You can also see more of my photographs on my  Robin Sanders Photography website.
