Theophilos Hatzimihail Museum

Theophilos Hatzimihail (Θεόφιλος Χατζημιχαήλ), known simply as Theophilos, was a major folk painter of Neo-Hellenic art. The main subject of his works is Greek characters and the illustration of Greek traditional folklife and history.

The museum was built in 1965 and houses 86 of his works and is on the same site as the Tériade Museum.

  1. Going to the Theophilos Museum was a highlight of my trip to Mitilini. I purchased three prints and in retrospect wish I had bought all that were available. I love his work.
