About Robin

We started visiting Lesvos such a long time ago we can't remember when. We simply fell in love with the island in general and Molyvos in particular. In 2005 we bought some land and tried to manage the building of our house from the UK. Holidays became site visits and our house was [mostly] completed in 2007. In 2009 we sold up in the UK and moved to Molyvos. This is now our home and we count ourselves amongst the luckiest of the lucky. I am a member of the Molyvos Tourist Association, providing photographs for their brochures and general publicity. Most of my time is spent on activities to encourage tourism or taking photographs of one of the most beautiful places on earth. I also produce calendars and sell them on-line through Lesvos Calendars. Please visit and have a look. You can also see more of my photographs on my  Robin Sanders Photography website.

Dolls and Painted Ceilings

The dolls of Mrs ParisiI am lucky.

I was invited into the house of Mrs Dora Parisi to photograpah her dolls and the 200 year old painted ceilings. The dolls are clearly made with love and a fine attention to detail.

The painted ceilings are over 200 years old and are very, very beautiful.

Thank you Mrs Parisi for making me feel so welcome and for letting me photograph your beautiful home.

I am lucky.

Peacocks and Lizards

Sunbathing Lizard - Leimonos Monastery near Kalloni

We went to Leimonos Monastery near Kalloni to take some pictures of the peacocks. They were in fine voice and could be heard from some distance. They were however very camera shy and hid in deep shadows, thwarting every effort to capture the moment.

This little guy saved the day by coming and sunbathing on a tree stump for me.

Thanks buddy.

Does it ever snow?

Snow on Mount Lepetymnos

Visitors frequently ask about winter weather on Lesvos.

2012 was a very cold year.

Our weather station said -7º C and the wind chill took it to -19º.

Time to snuggle up by the fire.

YES, it sometimes snows.
