About Robin

We started visiting Lesvos such a long time ago we can't remember when. We simply fell in love with the island in general and Molyvos in particular. In 2005 we bought some land and tried to manage the building of our house from the UK. Holidays became site visits and our house was [mostly] completed in 2007. In 2009 we sold up in the UK and moved to Molyvos. This is now our home and we count ourselves amongst the luckiest of the lucky. I am a member of the Molyvos Tourist Association, providing photographs for their brochures and general publicity. Most of my time is spent on activities to encourage tourism or taking photographs of one of the most beautiful places on earth. I also produce calendars and sell them on-line through Lesvos Calendars. Please visit and have a look. You can also see more of my photographs on my  Robin Sanders Photography website.

Aegean Airlines Magazine

Aegean Airlines MagazineLesvos is front page news in Aegean Airlines magazine “Blue”. The cover has a photograph of Molyvos and invites you to “Explore Majestic Lesvos”.

The article (page 136 for those in a rush to find it) gives “Five reasons to revisit the northeastern Aegean island that has it all.” These are:
♥   Traditional cuisine
♥   Charming villages
♥   The beaches
♥   The unique features of the bays
♥   The petrified forest

These are indeed great reasons to revisit Lesvos, they are also perfect to attract the first time visitor. If you love Lesvos then you will know that the island has many more unique features that make it an unmissable travel destination. We just need to make sure that the world knows what a gem this beautiful island is.

Thank you to Aegean Airlines magazine for helping spread the word.

First 2014 Charter Flight

The first charter flight of 2014 landed at Mytilene on Friday 11th April. The Transavia flight from Amsterdam arrived in brilliant sunshine. Passengers were greated by the Mayor of Lesvos and Greek dancers.

Καλώς ήλθατε στη Λέσβο!

Do you want to visit Lesvos and are travelling from The Netherlands?

“We did it” Greece

Let's Do ItIt’s 8:30 on a Sunday morning, but the residents of Molyvos are up and ready for action. It’s Lets do it Greece” day and along with thousands of other villages around Greece, we are all ready for a good spring clean of the village. Split into groups, armed with tools and our high visibility vests, we head off to cut down overgrown vegetation and collect rubbish.lets_do_it_2

The forecast had promised sunshine through high cloud. Someone forgot the high cloud and the day turned very sunny and hot. The day was most productive as many areas of the village were cleared.

I really do wish that I had taken a ‘before’ photograph to show you the difference. However, I didn’t so you will just have to use your imagination.

Lets do it GreeceThis very pretty ‘street’  on the left was lined by weeds that grew to 1 metre high in places. Once we had strimmed, cut and pulled there was only one thing left to do! Two worn out brooms and four worn out sweepers later and we have transformed it into the vision of beauty you now see.

As a reward for our hard work we are allowed to retire to the forest area for a well deserved drink and a souvlaki lunch.

We have enjoyed ourselves so much that we are doing it again! So if you are in the Molyvos area on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am….come and meet us at the school to join the fun!!!

Molyvos Landslide

Landslide in Molyvos 201425 March 2014 –  After heavy overnight rain, there was a small landslide in Molyvos onto the main road to the harbour. As the road was deserted, nobody was hurt and no vehicles damaged. You might well look at the pictures and wonder “small landslide”? Well, the pictures show the results of a rather big digger pulling down further soil and rocks that the engineer had decided was unsafe. Approx 8-10 tonnes of rock was brought down with the heaviest single piece being in the region of 2 tonnes, I am pretty glad that did not land on my foot or my car! If you are wondering where exactly the landslide was, the wooden building on the left in the picture above is the “Blue Fox”. Landslide in Molyvos 2014Thursday 27 March – work continues to clear the road and make safe the land above the road. The only road to the harbour is the road through the centre of the village. This is mostly only one car wide, so you might imagine the problems that this is causing.

If you have any pictures of the  Molyvos landslide that we can add to this page, please email them to us.
