Lesvos blue flag beaches 2014

The list of Lesvos blue flag beaches 2014 was published some weeks ago. We did not post the detail here because the blueflag.org website had one of the beaches in the wrong place on its location map. I originally contacted them 12 months ago to point out the issue. We have exchanged frequent very polite emails while they promised to sort the map out “quickly”.

08:15,Lesvos blue flag beaches 2014  28 May 2014 I visited the web site and the new list of Lesvos blue flag beaches 2014 was posted, but with Nyfida still in the wrong place (It was marked at Sigri which does not have a blue flag). Sadly I ran out of patience and sent a very abrupt email and posted the picture opposite on their facebook page together with some choice comments about our 12 month correspondence.

11:33, 28 May 2014 I received an email telling me that the problem has now been corrected. A quick check and behold, the map is now showing Nyfida blue flag beach at Nyfida and not Sigri.  It has only taken 12 months, but with a little pushing from molyvos.eu they have, at last put it right.

First 2014 Charter Flight

The first charter flight of 2014 landed at Mytilene on Friday 11th April. The Transavia flight from Amsterdam arrived in brilliant sunshine. Passengers were greated by the Mayor of Lesvos and Greek dancers.

Καλώς ήλθατε στη Λέσβο!

Do you want to visit Lesvos and are travelling from The Netherlands?

“We did it” Greece

Let's Do ItIt’s 8:30 on a Sunday morning, but the residents of Molyvos are up and ready for action. It’s Lets do it Greece” day and along with thousands of other villages around Greece, we are all ready for a good spring clean of the village. Split into groups, armed with tools and our high visibility vests, we head off to cut down overgrown vegetation and collect rubbish.lets_do_it_2

The forecast had promised sunshine through high cloud. Someone forgot the high cloud and the day turned very sunny and hot. The day was most productive as many areas of the village were cleared.

I really do wish that I had taken a ‘before’ photograph to show you the difference. However, I didn’t so you will just have to use your imagination.

Lets do it GreeceThis very pretty ‘street’  on the left was lined by weeds that grew to 1 metre high in places. Once we had strimmed, cut and pulled there was only one thing left to do! Two worn out brooms and four worn out sweepers later and we have transformed it into the vision of beauty you now see.

As a reward for our hard work we are allowed to retire to the forest area for a well deserved drink and a souvlaki lunch.

We have enjoyed ourselves so much that we are doing it again! So if you are in the Molyvos area on Wednesday morning at 8:00 am….come and meet us at the school to join the fun!!!
